⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Seiryuu Abi
Age: 18
Canon: Akatsuki no Yona
Canon Point: Shortly after the fight where Zeno gets slashed while dragging him off the front lines.

Background: http://akatsukinoyona.wikia.com/wiki/Abi

Abi was a normal individual, up until the Blue Dragon offered to let him drink its blood and gain its power. Doing so gave him enhanced vision, along with the ability to paralyze people by convincing them a vision of a dragon was eating them. The price of his power was to love and serve the king of Kouka, former Dragon God Hiryuu, and this Abi did. He took pride in his position as a Dragon Warrior, even though it often involved fainting dead away inconveniently. He became one of the tribe generals, and many long, arduous battles as Seiryuu-- though Shu-ten and Guen would likely note theirs were longer.

He remains at Hiryuu's side until the end of Hiryuu's life, but I'm pulling him from earlier in his career.

Personality:

Abi is utterly dignified at first blush. He rarely smiles, keeping a neutral frown on most of the time. However, he does have some capacity for kindness, as evidenced by the little bird that accompanies him everywhere. It sides with him when he gets into a name-calling match with Shu-ten, so it must have some reason to love him.

At second blush, Abi can be easy to set off. He has no fear of repercussions when it comes to interjecting with snide comments, but he flies off the handle when Shu-ten dares to retaliate in turn. He seems willing to perpetuate a chain of never-ending escalations, from insults to threats of violence to actual violence if nothing stops him.

It's also fair to note that he takes his snide comments seriously. He is elaborate when telling Shu-ten how offensive his voice is to him. He starts off with the punchline, then doubles back to explain that yes, he's insulting you, specifically.

He takes a great deal of pride in his abilities, and is a little miffed when the downfall is pointed out to him. His insistence on overcoming it is immediately followed by him not overcoming it, so the idea that he's just grandstanding is worth considering. He believes in his power and is more than willing to put it up against the brute strength of Shu-ten and Guen. He's not necessarily eager to use his powers in combat, but he is determined to, and determined to do as much or more as any other Dragon Warrior.

The power of the dragon's eyes is very... removed, and Abi remains aloof while using it. His posture is very straight, and his arms remain slack at his sides. The variances in his facial expressions range from deep concentration to slight fear to surprise when he's finally worn out and collapses from the paralysis backfiring on him. So he is far from stoic; judging by what Shin-ah sees when he uses the dragon's eyes, Abi is aware that his victims are suffering something rather horrible and he's reacting to it. However, he powers right on through it, and he remains somewhat remote-- compared to, say, Guen sticking a hand through someone's chest.

While even Abi himself doesn't know how much of it is innate and how much is the dragon's blood, he is capable of deep love and unwavering loyalty. His feelings are tender toward the king, though he has no qualms telling him when he thinks he's being dumb. All the dragons were broken up by Hiryuu's death, but Abi seems to have the hardest time recovering-- though that might be trauma from another incident that happened around that time.

Abi stands on his pride, and that might be all he has to stand on. The author describes him as having an "unyielding will" but still being mentally weak. As when using his powers, he can force himself to go forward, but if there happens to be something he can't surpass, down he goes. When the source of his power -- his eyes -- is turned against him and his pride is kicked out from under him, he becomes sadder and more somber, and begins to keep his eyes covered, though still capable of being provoked. While we don't know exactly what happened, beyond Abi having a knife put to his neck, the experience clearly broke something deep within him, and it's tempting to speculate that Abi's inability to cope with his trauma is the source of the present-day belief by his descendants that his power was cursed.

Abilities:

Dragon's eyes: By drinking the blood of the Blue Dragon, Abi gained the power of its eyes. He can see across great distances, through solid objects, and in the dark. He can also paralyze people with visions of a dragon eating them. However (I'm guessing because it'd be one-sided otherwise) overuse of the paralysis power causes it to backfire on him, and he becomes temporarily paralyzed. Because he tends to use it against entire armies, it... happens to him a lot.

Abi is also a general, and presumably capable of fighting with standard weaponry-- the "popular imagination" of him does depict him with a sword.

Alignment: Sosyne. He makes you think he's so cool and collected, then flips right out when Shu-ten starts calling him names. Older Abi could fit Peromei, probably, but at this point, Sosyne feels like the right choice.

Other: If I had more information to put here, I would.
